I have a bachelors in Biology and and a minor in Combined Sciences. Will one year of Xerox sales experience plus being certified as a surgical tech get me into medical device sales. Should I work as a surgical tech for 6 months? should I gain more sales exp with xerox? How much of each??
Get your hands dirty for about a year scrubbing cases. Then start talking to the local reps afterwards. I have worked with many good sales reps that were surgical techs for years. Not only could they sell their product, but they still have that "surgical mind set" where they can spot breaks in aspetic technique and can provide "tech support" to the sterile team while trying out an implant, etc. Combined knowledge of the OR and sales is big plus. Good Luck
