<p>If you&#8217;re like me, you&#8217;ve probably wondered how some network marketers consistently produce outstanding sales of their mlm products (And, how you can do the same). The truth is, along with consistent effort and determination to win, there are some key strategies that contribute to their success.</p>
<p>What I&#8217;d like to share with you today is how to avoid one of the biggest mistakes network marketers make, and how to apply one of these key strategies that can increase your MLM product sales virtually overnight.</p>
<p>Before we get started though, let&#8217;s take a look at this simple-yet-deadly mistake most networkers make when selling their MLM products.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s pretend for a moment that you&#8217;re marketing weight loss supplements that come in the form of shakes or diet pills. You&#8217;re in the middle of giving your prospect what you think is a fantastic product presentation. You&#8217;ve clearly pointed out the benefits of your product, anticipated any possible objections, and are almost ready to take the order.</p>
<p>Then, the inevitable happens. Your prospect interrupts your presentation and asks, &#8220;Why can&#8217;t I just buy weight loss shakes or diet pills from the grocery store?&#8221; And all of a sudden everything comes to a screeching halt. Aarrgh!!!</p>
<p>It&#8217;s as if they were reading a script and knew exactly when to jump into the conversation with this seemingly impossible to overcome objection, leaving you no choice but to try to compete with the store down the street.</p>
<p>This highly ineffective approach is what&#8217;s called an &#8220;apples to apples&#8221; comparison. And it almost always ends in frustration and the loss of a sale.</p>
<p>In other words, comparing your company&#8217;s products to a similar product that&#8217;s readily available at a local retailer or online is a death sentence to what would otherwise be a stellar presentation. And the reason this is such a deal-breaker is because using this approach makes it virtually impossible to create a big enough advantage in your product that your prospect has little motivation to buy.</p>
<p>So what&#8217;s the solution? Easy, it&#8217;s called an &#8220;apples to ORANGES&#8221; comparison. And not only is it incredibly effective at capturing your prospect&#8217;s attention, it makes your job a whole lot easier.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s how it works. Instead of comparing your product to something similar. Compare it to something radically more expensive, time consuming, emotionally exhausting or just plain inconvenient &#8211; something that leaves no question in your prospect&#8217;s mind that buying your product is a &#8220;no-brainer&#8221;.</p>
<p>Now, let&#8217;s take a look at your presentation using the apples-to-oranges method. And this time, instead of trying to compete with Wal-Mart, we&#8217;ll try a comparison to a couple of weight loss &#8220;alternatives&#8221;.</p>
<p>We&#8217;ll start with purchasing weightloss equipment. In this instance, we&#8217;ll use the &#8220;Bow-Flex Revolution&#8221;. This is a popular piece of exercise equipment that currently retails for well over $2000. You can let your prospect know that not only is this machine expensive, but its large size will surely take up lots of space in your home or apartment (and who knows how much assembly is required).</p>
<p>Another comparison to try, how about joining a fitness club? A membership at a national chain of fitness clubs costs about $250 just to start and then $65 for each month after that. This comes out to over $1000 for your first year alone! In addition, a gym membership will demand serious commitment, time, and lots of self-discipline.</p>
<p>One more quick example of this strategy could be:</p>
<p>If the product you market is a pain-relief supplement to treat muscle aches or joint pain. Instead of comparing your product to prescription drugs or over-the-counter pain relievers, try making the comparison to the stress, pain, expense, risks, and hassles of surgery or pro-longed chiropractic treatment.</p>
<p>Are you starting to see how all this works? You want your prospect to feel as though they would be a fool to pass up an offer like yours. Whatever the case may be, effectively using the &#8220;apples to oranges&#8221; comparison will make it blatantly obvious that your product is the way to go.</p>
<p>Besides increasing your sales numbers (and your commission checks), other benefits of using this technique include:</p>
<p>* No special skills are required &#8211; You and your entire downline can start applying it immediately.</p>
<p>* Virtually eliminates the need to overcome objections.</p>
<p>* Makes your presentation alot more enjoyable and relaxed for both you and your prospect.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;ve been looking to boost your sales results, then I can&#8217;t wait till you try this strategy. Imagine what it would be like if you could walk into any presentation knowing that in just a few moments, your prospect will become your next loyal customer. Don&#8217;t believe me? <p>In a coaching session with a sales person from one of our clients the other day, they shared their excitement over receiving a lead from an excellent prospect with great potential. I asked if they had followed up yet and they responded, no, &#8220;It&#8217;s a great opportunity so I want to make sure that I make a great call, I&#8217;m still in the process of &#8220;getting ready&#8221; to make sure I have everything right&#8221;.</p>
<p>Sales people often avoid taking action and can form a bad habit of always &#8220;getting ready&#8221;. In fact, I like to refer to this as the &#8220;getting ready disease&#8221;. You &#8216;ve heard some form of it before, or maybe have even been a victim of it. Some common &#8220;getting ready&#8221; traps are:</p>
<p>I&#8217;m getting ready to make calls&#8230;</p>
<p>I&#8217;m getting ready to write that proposal&#8230;</p>
<p>I&#8217;m getting ready to follow up on that great lead&#8230;</p>
<p>I&#8217;m getting ready to make that tough phone call&#8230;</p>
<p>Sadly, companies often perpetuate and foster the &#8220;getting ready&#8221; disease. I can&#8217;t tell you how many times I have seen companies hire sales people and not allow them to make calls because they need to &#8220;get ready&#8221;. You know, they need to &#8220;get ready&#8221; to sell by learning product knowledge, researching their customers and the market, or &#8220;boning up&#8221; on the competition. I&#8217;ve even heard sales managers tell new sales people &#8220;we really don&#8217;t expect you to sell anything for the first six months, you&#8217;re just not ready&#8221;. Can you guess what happens? They don&#8217;t sell anything for six months!!&#8230; proof again of the self fulfilling prophesy!</p>
<p>The getting ready disease is just a synonym for &#8220;procrastination&#8221;, the root cause of which is the &#8220;fear of failure&#8221;. We procrastinate, stall or put off what needs to be done because we are afraid that we might not be able to do things &#8220;right&#8221; or &#8220;perfect&#8221;. Not being able to do things right will cause failure and so we avoid acting for fear that we might &#8220;fail&#8221;. Our fear &#8220;paralyzes&#8221; us and creates in-action, which in the sales business (and many other vocations) will guarantee the failure we fear so much! It is a &#8220;negative spiral&#8221;, causing us to engage in non-productive behavior.</p>
<p>The next time you find yourself getting ready, ask yourself will delaying the call to &#8220;get ready&#8221; actually lower the chances of having a successful outcome? You might just find that waiting may have a more detrimental affect than not &#8220;being perfect&#8221;. More often than not &#8220;a good plan today is better than a perfect plan tomorrow!&#8221;.</p>
<p>Action Step: The next time you find yourself &#8220;getting ready&#8221; take action.</p>

<p>When I ask the sales people I work with what tool they most use to prospect with, an overwhelming amount of them have the same answer-The Sales Letter. And, when I ask them how well it works for them, the answer is equally consistent-not great. SO, why do we keep sending the letters?<br />The Sales Introduction Letter is one of the most used direct mail tools in a sales person&#8217;s arsenal. It&#8217;s the most common sales tool used, but it often falls flat because to be effective it must be compelling or it will not be read.<br />Here are six tips to making the sales introduction letter really work for you:<br />Mail it to WARM Prospects. The sales introduction letter is not likely to succeed when mailed to cold lists (those lists you have had NO contact with prior to the mailing). You will see the results improve drastically if you reserve this tool for prospects who have engaged with you on some level (visited your website or tradeshow booth, came to a seminar, met at a networking event, talked to you by phone, etc.). Another great way to prospect with the sales introduction letter is to have a referral partner send it to their customers who fit your target profile on your behalf.<br />Keep it to One Page. Lengthy letters will only work if you write them like an article. I&#8217;ve seen great success with this technique, so if that makes sense for you&#8230;give it a try. Otherwise, keep the introduction short and sweet (use BULLETS) and then later FOLLOW-UP for the more lengthy discussion.<br />Pepper with Quotes. Quotes from industry publications and/or customers can add credibility to your letter, while creating &#8220;sound bytes&#8221; that will grab the reader&#8217;s attention.<br />Hand Address, Hand Sign. Studies continue to prove that the personally hand-addressed envelope is the surest way to get your letter opened in the first place. Resist the temptation to ignore this step, no matter how time-consuming!<br />Mail in a Priority Mail Envelope. Obviously cost can prohibit you from using this technique with EVERY letter, however with the more qualified prospects, it&#8217;s a winner. The hard, large sized, official look of the envelope ensures it will be opened.<br />Always Include a Value-add Enclosure. Whether it is a free pen, magnet, or article (choose what makes sense for your business), a value-added enclosure is essential to keeping the attention of the prospect once the package has been opened.<br />It&#8217;s easy to throw a sales letter together, but to do it right (and not waste valuable time and money), follow the above tips carefully.</p>

<p>I love sales training.  I also love listening to sales trainers speak.  They radiate enthusiasm and motivation that ignites passion for excellence.  The methods they teach are often of the highest quality, however, they are usually no longer in the business of sales.  Their marketing methods tend to be old, and old marketing styles are as useful as an airplane with no wings.</p>
<p>That doesn&#8217;t mean the airplane wouldn&#8217;t work if it had wings.  We can give wings to old methods by integrating new twists and spins on classic marketing.  Successful businesses, however, learn to recognize several common myths that some sales training continues to teach.</p>
<p>Some sales training teaches that you just have to &#8220;get more people in front of your offer&#8221; or &#8220;make twice as many calls and you&#8217;ll double the results&#8221; or even &#8220;just pump up the numbers.&#8221;</p>
<p>All of these sayings are catch-phrases for &#8220;work harder&#8221;, and nobody likes to do that.  These three phrases are circulated everywhere and it really makes me sad to see so many people working so hard and then even harder but still getting weak results.  This is how people burn out and give up on sales and marketing.</p>
<p>There is a better way.  Instead of increasing the number of people who see your offer, how about pre-qualifying the people who see your offer? I choose only to work with highly-qualified prospects.  Time is too valuable to spend with somebody who has little or no interest in your widget or service.  Make people qualify themselves to be worthy of your attention.</p>
<p>You need to become an expert, and ultimately a mentor.  If you aren&#8217;t able to bring real value and additional benefits to your prospects honestly, then you may be better off running a casino where people expect to be cheated.  To be successful in sales, you are the most important asset.  You need to become the gold mine of benefits to your prospects so they will buy more often and at higher prices.</p>
<p>Prospects aren&#8217;t going to give you a big wad of cash for a little list of benefits.  Price needs to be just and fair, but your prospect needs to understand the full benefits before price is even mentioned.  You should compare your benefits to others who charge more for less.  At that point your prospect cannot complain about price because your offer is clearly superior to the competition and they will not only buy from you but refer their associates who also want that same stack of benefits.</p>
<p>Sales and marketing is simply a battle of perceptions in the mind of your prospects.  Become the best in your field, and the best prospects will come to you without your cold calls, direct mail, newspaper ads, or pay-per-click ads.  They will seek you out, and all you have to do is be available and be honest.  Your karma will shoot through the roof (on the positive side) and you will have everything you wanted because you helped others get what they wanted.</p>

<p>There are loads of reasons why people decide to start an online home business and some of them include convincing sales copy and promised riches.</p>
<p>Our emotional response to a sales page is what &#8220;hooks&#8221; and the need to be lead by someone we hope will show us the way to a no-brainer cash cow with an endless stream of $100 bills is what has us whipping out our credit card faster than we can say &#8220;compound interest&#8221;</p>
<p>You could try willpower as a method to stop this endless, expensive necessity to buy, but it can be easier said than done. When you are watching a timer ticking down the seconds before the offer ends, or there is a fast action bonus that you have convinced yourself you need. Or even worse, the price is rising with every second that passes and the longer you wait the more expensive the product gets. Resistance of any kind is futile.</p>
<p>And while these are all fantastic marketing techniques when you are the seller, they are an absolute nightmare when you are the buyer.</p>
<p>Your credit card takes yet another &#8220;hit&#8221; as you buy the latest piece of viral software or adsense templates. Your credit card absolutely cowers when you add the latest article site monthly membership fee, and it gasps for air when you add the new gurus coaching program onto to it!</p>
<p>Yes folks, when the marketing machine &#8220;hooks&#8221; you there is little you can do but give in and buy. Or is there? Here are 7 proven ways (and I know they are proven because I had to use them myself) to stop credit card overload:</p>
<p>1. Create a vision for your business. I always get back to this because for me it is one of the most important things. If you know you are focusing on writing info products you don&#8217;t need the latest gadget software.  Focus, focus, focus with a vision for your business and whatever that vision is don&#8217;t allow anything to come along and deter you from it.</p>
<p>2. Stop &#8211; okay so the price of the product is increasing before your eyes, but stop anyway and ask yourself &#8220;Is this something I really need, and how will I use it within the next 24 hours?&#8221; If you don&#8217;t know how you will immediately put it to use I would argue that you really don&#8217;t need it right now.</p>
<p>3. Delete the email &#8211; don&#8217;t even read it, when you are stronger (you will know you are stronger because you stop salivating when a new email offer arrives), open the email and unsubscribe from all these mailing lists you are on!</p>
<p>4. If curiosity really is killing you and you have to open and read the email then BEFORE you click that link to take a look, stop and let your logical mind take over. Tell yourself you are only looking and before you buy you will read the entire sales page TWICE!</p>
<p>5. Read the entire sales page TWICE &#8211; Research has shown that long sales copy works. It&#8217;s my personal belief that the only reason why they work is because we are too lazy to read them, so we go from the top of the page and the headline straight down to the fast action bonuses and hit the &#8220;Buy now&#8221; link. If you really think you need this product then read the sales page from start to finish at least twice. I recommend 4 times to be sure.</p>
<p>6. Don&#8217;t put your email receipts in a separate folder &#8211; It is easy to forget about that $27 ebook, or $8 domain you bought. Leave all your receipts for that month in your inbox. It is important they remain unopened and highlighted. You will be surprised at how many &#8220;purchase receipts&#8221; you actually accumulate and it definitely stops the spending!</p>
<p>7. Find yourself a business where you don&#8217;t need any extras! Internet marketing is such a huge area that it&#8217;s easy to believe you need to buy all the latest products for your business. Find yourself an online business that provides you with just about everything you need. That doesn&#8217;t mean you never have to buy anything again. It just means that you need less and so can be conservative in your spending.</p>
<p>Credit card overload can become an occupational hazard for anyone working online, and running a home based business.</p>
<p>If you are fairly new to internet marketing there is still time to save yourself, re-read my 7 ways to avoid credit card overload, in fact print it off and hang it on your wall as a reminder of what you must do to survive online.</p>
<p>If you are a long-term internet marketing veteran who has managed to buy more than you have ever sold online, here&#8217;s my advice&#8230;&#8230;&#8230; step away from the computer, put the credit card down and put your hands behind your head!</p>
